The best support for people with a spinal cord injury comes from their peers.
From the time the injury occurs, our Peer Volunteers are on hand to help you come to terms with what has happened. But most importantly, they are here to help you rebuild your life. Our Peer Support Workers are all people with personal experience of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) either as a person living with a SCI themselves or as the loved one of a person with a SCI.
Peer support offers an environment where a person can feel that they are being listened to as a normal person and not a patient or a service user.
The Peer Support Volunteers can offer a different and unique perspective to the medics and the professionals as they all have “lived experience”. They can relate to you in a way that only someone who has “been there and done that” can. When you are struggling to make sense and find direction a Peer Volunteer can listen and help guide you down a safe pathway to the future.
If you or a family member think that Peer Support is something that would be helpful please read further and don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
